Crochet Bouquet Care Guide

Keeping Your Crochet Bouquet Beautiful

The care steps below reflect what we have tried — follow them and your blooms will stay beautiful.

Dust & Light Surface Cleaning

Light dust is the most common thing your bouquet will encounter. We recommend:

  • Soft dusting: Use a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush (such as a clean makeup brush or pastry brush) to gently sweep dust off petals and stems once every few weeks, or as needed.
  • Compressed air: A short burst of canned air held at least 20 cm away can shift dust from tighter loops without disturbing the shape.
  • Lint roller (light pressure): A single, gentle roll along larger flat petals lifts lint and pet hair effectively.

Always work in the direction of the stitches — from stem toward petal tip — to avoid distorting loops.

Storage

  • Keep your bouquet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Prolonged UV exposure can gradually fade yarn colours, even on lightfast fibres.
  • Store upright in a vase or lay flat in a box with tissue paper loosely supporting the shape. Avoid stacking heavy items on top.
  • Avoid airtight plastic bags for long-term storage — yarn breathes better with a little airflow.
  • If displaying long-term, a glass cloche or display box is ideal for keeping dust out while letting the piece be seen.

Humidity & Environment

  • Singapore's humidity is generally safe for our yarns, but avoid placing bouquets directly next to air-conditioning vents (which can dry fibres over time) or in very damp corners such as bathrooms.
  • Do not leave bouquets in areas with high heat — such as inside a car on a sunny day or near a stove — as heat can relax stiffening and alter the bouquet's shape.

Sprays & Scents

  • Do not spray perfume, fabric freshener, or starch directly onto the bouquet. The alcohol and solvents in these products can stain or weaken yarn fibres.
  • If you want a light scent, place a small sachet of dried petals or cedar near (not touching) the bouquet.

Washing — Not Suitable

Do not wash or submerge your crochet bouquet. Our bouquets incorporate internal wire armatures, stiffening treatments, and mixed-fibre yarns that are not compatible with wet cleaning. Water can cause:

  • Rusting of internal wire supports
  • Loss of shape due to stiffening dissolving
  • Colour bleeding between yarns
  • Distortion of delicate petals that will not return to their original form

Spot cleaning with a barely damp cotton swab on an inconspicuous area is the maximum we recommend — and only for a specific visible mark, not as general cleaning.
